Efiɛ exhibition of African art kicks off in Dubai

The inaugural Efiɛ exhibition presents the most important features of African art and emphasizes its connection with the Middle East at Burj Park, Downtown Dubai from Emaar until 8 November 2021.

Efiɛ Gallery is a contemporary art gallery dedicated to shedding light on African artists within the continent, with a focus on West African art .

The exhibition, in its first edition this year, includes African artists, whether long-standing in the field or emerging talents, and will work to share their works in the Middle East, creating a platform for cooperation and exchange between the two regions .

Co-curated by Kobe Minte, Kwame Minta and Afia Oso Afriyi as curators, this first exhibition will take place inside a specially designed art gallery at Burj Plaza by Emaar. The main idea revolves around the celebration of bonds, which is to link tradition and authentic heritage with modernity and evolving thought in the new Africa .

Designed by Ghanaian architect Alice Asafu-Adjaye, this exhibition is inspired by the traditions, historical and cultural symbols and environmental conditions that dictate the lifestyles and rich cultures of both Africa and the Middle East .

The first Efiɛ exhibition is presented in association with Emaar, Africa No Filter, The African Center in London, the Nubuke Foundation in Accra, the Kuenyehia Fund for Contemporary Art and Claudia M Gallery.

The first Efiɛ exhibition, located in Burj Plaza, will run from Emaar until November 8, until it moves to its permanent home in Dubai.
