Kwaku Yaro

Emmanuel Kwaku Yaro (b. 1995) is a Ghanaian artist living and working in Accra. His mixed media style incorporates upcycled carrier bags, wax prints and jute sacks in his acrylic paintings that serve to then create portraits of dynamic and eccentric Ghanaian youth. Based in the Labadi district of Accra, Yaro is a self-taught artist who looks to artists such as Georges Seurat, Sami Bentil and Marie-Guillemine. He has exhibited his work with Accra-based collective Artemartis, Phillips Auction in London, Citronne Gallery in Athens and Efie Gallery in Dubai.
